Indian Head Massage

What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage techniques in practice today have evolved from a 1000 years of traditional Indian family grooming passed down from generation to generation. Indian women are taught by their mothers to massage oils such as coconut, sesame, olive and mustard oil into the scalp to maintain good condition of the hair and scalp.

Indian Head Massage was introduced to the western world by Narendra Mehta in the 1970’s when he combined traditional Head Massage with massage techniques to the shoulders, upper arms and neck to develop a new holistic therapy.

Indian Head Massage is designed to work on the areas of the body must vulnerable to stress and collectively represent a de-stressing treatment for the whole body. The treatment is non-invasive as the client remains fully clothed and seated. Some of the massage techniques are vigorous and designed to push out tension and toxins held in the muscles, whilst other movements are less vigorous, designed to sooth and relax.

Indian Head Massage is particularly beneficial to people suffering from muscle fatigue and tension in the shoulders and neck. It can offer relief from migraine, headaches and sinus pain. It can also be benefit stress, anxiety and sleeping disorders as this treatment encourages the body to rest and relax and promotes restful sleep.
