Treat Yourself to Healing Aromas

Penny Edwards tells us about Thai Aroma Massage which is now available.

Aromatherapy Thai aroma massage combines traditional massage techniques with heated herbs and exotic essential oils. Feel any tension easing away and leave feeling stimulated after a totally relaxing and invigorating treatment.

Eastern approaches to health and well-being treat the mind, body and spirit to encourage self-healing. Traditional Thai practitioners accept the theory of energy flowing through the body along invisible energy channels. Herbs and massage play a major role in this traditional approach to health.

A selection of dried and fresh therapeutic herbs are ground up and wrapped in a muslin cloth. During the massage the herbal packs, called Prakhops, are steamed to release the aromas and used as a hot compress to give a deep treatment that will sooth any tensions and relax tight muscles. The herbs in the Prakhops are traditionally prescribed for each individual and are thought to have originated as a way to sooth the aching muscles of the Thai warriors returning from battle.

The modern compresses contain between 10 and 20 herbs from Thailand selected for their properties , such as kaffir lime and mandarin to detoxify the body, turmeric, which is analgesic and anti-inflammatory, camphor to cool and invigorate as well as eucalyptus, cinnamon and ginger for their antiseptic properties. The herbs soften, nourish and moisturise the skin, improving the condition of the skin whilst stimulating the senses. The most noticeable benefits with this type of massage are:

• Soothing for the mind and body
• Alleviate muscle tension
• Feeling relaxed and invigorated afterwards
• Relief of stress
• Detoxifying

A 40 minute massage costs £40. Contact us to book yourself in.
